Hard’Ack Work Day and Ice Bowl 2007

Hard’Ack: Hey fellow disc golfers. As many of you know, the organization that owns and maintains the Hard’Ack Recreation Area in St. Albans, Vermont has decided to install a 9 hole disc golf course on the property. The GMDGC has offered its help and support with course layout and design and with leading and providing some physical labor to help prepare the area. There is an opportunity this Sunday, December 3 at 10:00am to help spread the sport of disc golf in Vermont and also participate in creating a new course from the ground up. We are looking for anyone who is willing to help out to please show up.

The majority of the work will be clipping and clearing small brush to open up greens and tees as well as cutting some smaller branches and trees that are over fairway space. If you can come, please bring work gloves and lopping shears if you have them. Hard’ack is a fairly easy drive up I-89 to St. Albans. The driveway is off of Congress Street, see this map. Please ignore the address – it was just used to get the arrow in the right place. If you have any questions or if you know you are definitely going to show up, please get in touch with Pete Hess via email and let him know what’s up.

Ice Bowl 2007: The GMDGC has decided to support the National Ice Bowl program and host an Ice Bowl event. The Ice Bucket 2007 will take place at the Center Chains Disc Golf Course in Waterbury Center on January 27, 2007. Ice Bowl events have 2 rules: 1) The event happens as scheduled, no matter what. Just like the US Postal Service neither snow nor sleet nor -30 degree weather will stop these disc golfers from playing. And 2) the tournament is a fund raiser for a local food shelf or pantry. The details of the Ice Bucket 2007 are still TBD, but put the date on the calendar and be sure come out and play. If you do, you may even see your snow covered face in the pages of Disc Golf World News.
